Native IP (Internet Protocol) network
There are fewer components needed, fewer potential
points of failure in the network and no restrictions on incremental bandwidth.
Data carrying in native Ethernet format
No conversion is required, which means no added latency
and no matching to established bandwidth hierarchies like T-1 and DS-3.
This mode of
transmission is much simpler, more scalable and much more efficient, resulting
in much better
performance.
Gigabit Ethernet network
"Giga" means billion, so Gigabit Ethernet means the
data is transmitted at one billion bits per second. This is 100 times
faster than the original Ethernet standard of 10 Mbps. Gigabit Ethernet
is the logical evolution of the Ethernet standard from 10 Mbps, then to
100 Mbps, and now to 1000 Mbps - "Gigabit." Because this is
such a high speed, it cannot be carried more than a few hundred feet over
copper wires. This is why fiber optics are so important to this technology.
Diverse Routing
Network is designed to minimize delays and failure through diverse
routing and transit and peering relationships with multiple partners in
each metropolitan area. In addition, Yipes'
network management and support proactively identifies and reacts to potential
network outages
and delays. This means that, more often than not, we'll have issues resolved
before they ever
affect our customers.
Fault-tolerance
Network and fault management are based on best-of-breed systems and
tools such as Aprisma Spectrum, Remedy ARS and Concord Network Health.
Partners
Best of breed equipment suppliers and backbone providers include:
Extreme Networks, Juniper Networks, NetScreen Technologies, Qwest Communications
and Level 3 Communications, to name a few.
